徐新武在研究现实主义大师古斯塔夫·库尔贝的绘画时偶然被X光下显现出的旧作所吸引，他在观看这些被修改遮盖、又被重新揭示的画作时油然而生出一种揭秘真相的冲动，于是他将自己的绘画视做一种取材自抽象现实的另类显影过程，并称之为“显影现实主义绘画”，《人曲》系列便是艺术家在此研究之下的创作。 Xu’s inspiration for this series emerged during his study of the works of realist master Gustave Courbet. Captivated by the hidden images revealed under X-ray scans of Courbet’s paintings—earlier compositions painted over and later unveiled—Xu developed a fascination with the act of revelation itself. He began to see his own painting practice as an alternative process of developing images from the abstract fragments of reality, coining the term “Film-processing Realism Painting” to describe his approach. The Human Comedy is the culmination of this ongoing investigation.

基于对经典文学和戏剧情节的想象，徐新武在现实世界中搜寻抽象的痕迹，以此解构并重组人物形象。画面中非常态的人物造型充斥着吊诡的陌生感，挑战着既有的绘画逻辑和观看者的认知。这些肉身既是情绪的容器，也是人物内在精神的载体，他们被置于若有似无、既抽象又具象的环境中，上演着永无休止的、经典且荒诞的剧目。 Drawing from classical literature and dramatic narrative structures, Xu searches for abstract traces within the real world, using them to deconstruct and reconstruct human figures. The resulting images are populated by figures in states of physical distortion and psychological intensity—strange and uncanny forms that defy conventional pictorial logic and challenge the viewer’s perceptual framework. These bodies become vessels of emotion and manifestations of interior life, placed within ambiguous environments that oscillate between the abstract and the concrete. Within these spaces, they enact an endless, absurd, and timeless drama.

徐新武希望以此探索人与外部环境间的复杂关系，揭示人的命运、情感与存在的多重面向，捕捉隐藏于人类经验深处的精神线索 , 构建另类真实。 Through this body of work, Xu Xinwu seeks to probe the intricate dynamics between individuals and their environments, illuminating the multiplicity of human destiny, emotion, and existence. The Human Comedy captures the elusive spiritual traces embedded deep within lived experience, offering a vision of an alternative, and profoundly resonant, realism.
